PROJECT 1: Contextual Study Sketch Journal of a Traditional Street
The construction of place identity is shaped by socio-cultural, economic, and political factors over time, influencing both physical and non-physical aspects. In a rapidly globalizing city like Kuala Lumpur, traditional streets may see significant changes in their meanings due to urban development. This project proposes reading the "lexicons" of traditional streets through their tangible architectural and spatial qualities and intangible socio-cultural attributes, helping students understand the unique contexts and meanings that define these streets. So I choose Jalan Tokong-Jalan
Tukang Besi in melaca.

The analysis focuses on the construction of place identity influenced by socio-cultural, economic, and political factors, examining both tangible architectural qualities and intangible socio-cultural attributes. The goal is to deepen understanding of the distinctive contexts and meanings that shape the unique identities of traditional streets in modern urban landscapes.
